If you’re struggling with Highlord Omokk in Heroic, here’s a deck I made that works nearly every single time. Highlord Omokk’s hero power can be difficult to deal with if you’re summoning just a single minion every turn. And while face hunter made him easy on normal, it’s relatively ineffective on heroic.
There are several ways to combat this hero power. One you might have thought of is freeze mage. Having little to no minions you’d be able to blast him with Archmage Antonidas. That being said with his high armor and his ability to gain more, this is not the easiest option. Another option would be a mill deck as Highlord Omokk is constantly drawing cards. This too gets difficult.
Which Class Should You Choose vs Highlord Omokk?
In my opinion, the best way to combat this hero power is to have a lot of small minions in order to flood the board. This way, it’s much harder for him to completely get rid of your board, and regularly he hits the wrong thing. Paladin is the class of choice here because of muster for battle, the hero power, and the quartermaster combo. You’ll also want to fill your deck with deathrattle minions that do something positive for you when they die.

Minion Strategy vs Highlord Omokk
If you can, mulligan for cards like nerubian egg, muster for battle, and haunted creeper. These early minions are key for board advantage. Minions like Sylvanas can turn the game around in the late game when Omokk starts summoning stealth ninjas and Boulderfist Ogres. Kel ‘Thuzad can single-handedly win you the game if he’s put out on a turn where you’ve flooded the board. Other minions like piloted shredder, harvest golem, and Sludge Belcher are key here as they are the sort of sticky minions you need in order to flood the board.

Gameplay Strategy vs Highlord Omokk
If it comes between using your hero power or getting something big out a lot of times it’s advantageous to summon a “dude”. In addition, at the beginning of the game you can take a bit of damage before Omokk gets his bigger minions out. Try not to waste your 1 cost minions as these come in handy later on when you need to fill up the board.
Other Optional Cards:
Onyxia: I didn’t use Onyxia here as often my board was flooded before the time I could play the card.
Consecration: Consecration works fine here, but if you need it, then often your further behind than you need to be.
Equality: I didn’t add equality for the same reason I didn’t use consecration.
Sneed’s Old Shredder: There’s a lot of other useful cards that cost less to use and you’ll already be waiting for the right turn to use Kel ‘Thuzad.
Final Thoughts:
Hopefully, this deck has helped you beat Highlord Omokk on Heroic Difficulty. Questions and comments are appreciated. Also, be sure to vote on in our poll of the biggest nerfs in hearthstone history.
I guess you had better luck with this one, I just tried it and am giving up after 6 tries. I think the lowest I got his health was 28. I had much better with the first Hunter deck I made myself where I got the enemy down to 2 health.
Andy – Thanks for your comment. You want to make sure that you get a muster for battle early on. This allows you to remove his early creatures. I made a video here as well that shows me beating him for the second time in a row: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6OXiOdW-eQ
